Deirdre and I are really excited about this class. Today we talked about the foundation for fulfilling sex in marriage and it is contrary to what screams at us every day and even more so, contrary to our very nature. We each fight a tendency to live self-centered lives and our marriages suffer when we do. But, oh what joy comes when we learn to place the needs of our spouse above our own!
When we put into practice serving our spouse daily, we make deposits into an emotional reservoir. If you have only taken from this reservoir, don't expect immediate returns. It takes time, effort and sometimes patience. But at some point, that basin will begin to overflow and you with both get to drink of its waters (Song of Solomon's metaphor implied!)
Remember these foundations from class:
1. Great sex is OTHER centered.
2. Great sex is about the quality of your ENTIRE love life.
3. Great sex is impacted more by what is happening OUTSIDE the bedroom that what is happening inside.
4. Truly satisfying and fulfilling sex can never be had apart from RELATIONSHIP.
